What do you mean by Family Dances, Sleep Outs and Children's Activities?
Beachcomber runs weekly activities for children. These classes are free and open to all members and range from Storytelling under the Trees and clay sculpture, to face painting and playdough. (Some classes have a small materials charge).

Family Dances are a night filled with DJ music, dancing and mingling by the pool till dark with friends.

Family Sleep Outs are a time when you bring your tent and pj's to the pool! Pitch your tent, take a late night swim and enjoy the bonfire. The next morning everyone is welcome to breakfast at the snack bar and more swimming.

Do you offer Swimming Lessons?

Yes! Information will be coming out this spring on the dates, times & registration process.

What is the Swim Team?

Our Beachcomber Frogs Swim Team is a great way for kids  ages 5-18 to make friends, get exercise and improve their strokes. Sign-up at the club starting Memorial Day Weekend.  Information on registration, practice times, and meets will be available later this spring.  Parent volunteers are always needed. This will be the Frogs' 22nd year competing and each year gets more and more fun!

Can I buy food at the pool?

Yes. We have a full service snack bar where you can buy soda, ice cream, snacks, the usual hot dog/hamburger fare, sandwiches and salads. This year the snack bar is managed and operated by Gidget's Catering (www.gidgetscafe.com).  A copy of the menu is available on this website under the "Beachcomber Swim Club" tab.

Can I bring my own picnic?

Yes. We have a picnic grove full of tables and grills for all to use. We ask that all meals be eaten in the grove rather than the pool area as this helps discourage the bees and ants near the pools and blankets. Glass and alcohol are prohibited at Beachcomber so remember to pack things in plastic!

Can I leave my 13 year old at the pool alone?

Yes, you can--but not your younger ones, please! Children under 13 are not to be left alone at BSC. A  parent or designated responsible adult (over 18) must remain at the club even when children are participating in swimming lessons or classes.

Does the Club close if it rains?

BSC will be open every day of our season regardless of  weather conditions unless:

- It has been raining heavily without any let-up from early morning to 5:00 PM and accompanied by thunder & lightning the club will close at 5:00PM

- It has been raining intermittently during the day, and it is still raining at 7:00 PM the club will close early.

- NOTE: Weather conditions at BSC may vary from conditions in the city.  If in doubt, please call.

Is there anyone to play basketball with on the weekends? What about other sports?

Basketball & Volleyball are alive and well. Basketball is played by all ages, but look for a Sunday game of our older & slightly aging athletes. Adult games of coed Volleyball take place on Saturdays & Sundays around 3pm. Water Polo takes place at 4pm every day.

Occasionally a pickup game of softball is announced. Look for more soccer playing and ultimate Frisbee on our baseball field.

Can anyone swim in the deep end?

For the safety of our children we require children and guests under 13 to take a deep water test before venturing out of the shallow end of the pool. This applies whether or not a parent is with the child in the pool. To pass the deep water test, a child must swim one lap in the deep end of the pool, using the front crawl. The stroke must be strong and demonstrate rhythmic breathing. The child must also tread water for one minute. This test is for your child's safety! Ask at the office and a lifeguard will be happy to give the test. If your child is unsuccessful, the first time, the lifeguard will explain what the child should practice in order to pass the test another day!

What kind of flotation devices can my child use?

We do not allow any flotation devices in the main pool. Over the years, we have found that children using flotation devices become dependent on them and can float into areas where they are not comfortable. For this reason, we request that all children be supervised by an adult in the main pool until they are capable swimmers.  Additionally, larger flotation devices prohibit the lifeguards from properly monitoring swimmers.   Based on our experience, smaller children can get trapped under the device and are harder to spot.  We will, however, schedule some traditional "Noodle Nights" for you to enjoy!

Can I bring guests?

Of course! Please bring your friends and family so that they can also fall in love with our wonderful community. Guest fees are $10 per adult and $7 per child. Members may also host private events/parties at the club.  Please contact the membership office for more information.

What other rules should I know when I visit Beachcomber?

NO GLASS, ALCOHOL, or DRUGS are permitted on the property.

NO PETS, please.

RULES FOR FOOD - Meals may only be eaten on the lower grounds, by the picnic tables, and the snack bar.  Only snacks are permitted by the pool area, in order to keep bees and animals away.  Tables inside the snack bar are reserved for patrons of the snack bar.  We appreciate your cooperation.

RULE FOR SWIM DIAPERS - Swim Diapers are not allowed in the main pool, but are permitted in the baby pool.  Unfortunately, any accident or diaper leakage requires us to close the entire pool to all guests for treatment.  For the main pool, this could take approximately 24 hours.  We are certainly concerned about this type of inconvenience to our members; however, our primary concern is their health and safety. We strive to keep the pool clean and sanitary according to Pennsylvania and federal regulations.  (The CDC's website provides important information on this subject at http://www.cdc.gov/healthyswimming/swim_diapers.htm.)
